The Dance Method ("we," "us," "our") is a dance studio in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website, registration, and marketing, how we use it, and your choices. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial privacy law.

1. What information we collect

Information you give us

• Contact & inquiry details — your name, email, phone number, and the message or interest you share when you fill out a form on our site.
• Registration details — when you register for classes, camps, or programs, the dancer's name and age, your details as the parent/guardian or adult registrant, and the program selected. Registration and payment are completed through our third-party registration provider (StudioLab).

Information collected automatically

• Usage & device data — pages visited, links clicked, approximate location, browser and device type, and similar analytics data, collected via cookies and similar technologies.
• Advertising identifiers — if you reach us from an ad, we may record the ad click identifier (for example a Google or Meta click ID) and campaign tags (UTM parameters) so we can understand which marketing brought you here.

2. How we use your information

• Respond to your questions and help you find the right program.
• Process registrations and deliver our classes, camps, and programs.
• Send you updates, reminders, and marketing about our programs — by email or text — where you've asked to hear from us or are an existing family. You can opt out at any time.
• Measure how our website and advertising perform, and improve both.
• Keep our site and information secure, and meet our legal obligations.

3. Cookies & tracking technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes: analytics (understanding how visitors use our site, via Google Analytics) and advertising (measuring and improving our ad campaigns, via advertising pixels). These tags are managed through Google Tag Manager.

We apply consent settings so these technologies respect your preferences. You can also control cookies through your browser settings, and manage ad personalization through each platform's ad settings (see links below). Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

4. Advertising & measurement

We advertise our programs on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram (Meta) and Google. To measure whether our ads lead to registrations, we may share a limited set of information — such as your email or phone number in hashed (irreversibly scrambled) form, along with an ad click identifier — with these platforms. Hashing means the platform cannot read your actual email or phone number; it is used only to match an ad click to an action and report results in aggregate.

We do not sell your personal information.

5. Who we share information with

We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate, and only as needed to provide our services:

• Registration & payments — our registration provider (StudioLab) processes class registration and payment.
• Customer relationship & communications — the platform we use to manage contacts and send email/SMS.
• Analytics & advertising — Google and Meta, as described above, for website analytics and ad measurement.

These providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services for us. We may also disclose information if required by law.

6. Children's information

Our programs are for dancers of many ages, including children. Registration and our forms are intended to be completed by a parent or guardian (or another adult registrant), who provides the dancer's information. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children online. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's involvement, please contact us and we will remove it.

7. How long we keep your information

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide our services and maintain our relationship with your family, and afterward only as long as required for legitimate business or legal purposes. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete or de-identify it.

8. Your choices & rights

• Unsubscribe — every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link; reply STOP to opt out of texts.
• Access & correction — you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it.
• Withdraw consent — you may withdraw consent to non-essential uses (such as marketing) at any time.
• Ad settings — manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings and Meta Ad Preferences.

9. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and limit access to those who need it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
